Job description

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic Chemistry teacher who is committed to transforming the lives of young people in the Leeds City region. Our standards and expectations are high and we expect our new staff to lead our continuing drive for excellence in the classroom. Chemistry is a very popular subject in the college with currently over 120 A level students on roll. This opportunity does present the successful candidate with a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate their value in a thriving and growing organisation.

Essential educational requirements

• Good honours degree in relevant subject

Essential qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (or currently an ITT/GTP trainee)

Essential skills and experience

• Very good classroom practitioner
• Ability to devise new resources to facilitate student learning
• Knowledge and experience of intervention strategies
• Ability to set high expectations in the classroom
• Knowledge of Post 16 curriculum and assessment
• Knowledge and understanding regarding Safeguarding, Child Protection and Prevent

Either:
• Successful placement(s), teaching at KS5 (applicants currently in training)
or:
• Successful record of teaching including very good exam results at one or more of KS4 & KS5 (applicants who already have gained QTS)
