What skills and experience we're looking for
Leeds Mathematics School are seeking to recruit an inspirational colleague to the role of Teacher of Mathematics and Further Mathematics & TLR: Extra-curricular activities. In this role, you will
- Teach A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
- Develop and lead coherent and impactful extra-curricular programmes alongside the academic timetable, including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and Tuesday Afternoon Enrichment, ensuring that all students participate successfully, in particular students with SEND and students who are Widening Participation Eligible.
- Contribute actively to the successful delivery of the whole vision for Leeds Mathematics School, including LMaS’ commitment to providing coherent and impactful
o super-curricular programmes alongside the academic timetable;
o trips and visits;
o academic support to ensure that all students achieve highly, in particular students with SEND and students who are Widening Participation Eligible;
o outreach enrichment programmes for high-attaining KS2, 3 and 4 students;
o mathematics CPD programmes for primary and secondary teachers.

If you are the ideal applicant, you will have
- A strong honours degree in Mathematics, or in a subject containing a considerable amount of Pure Mathematics.
- Current experience of teaching outstanding lessons to high-attaining secondary or post-16 students.
- Passionate commitment to the power of education to ‘change the deal’ for disadvantaged students.

About us:
Leeds Mathematics School (LMaS) (www.lmas.ac.uk) is a new, specialist sixth form college for high-attaining mathematicians in the Leeds city and West Yorkshire region. All LMaStudents studyMathematics and Further Mathematics A-Levels. In Year 12 they study two of Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics and Mandarin Chinese, and in Year 13 they continue one of these to A level.

We moved into our stunning new school in November 2023. This is located in the heart of Leeds, on The Headrow. The facilities for teaching and learning are exceptional, to support our evidence-led and research-informed curriculum and pedagogy. Our ongoing professional development is central to the vision, purpose and day-to-day practice of LMaS.
We welcomed ourfirst cohort of70 students in September 2023 and 99 students in September 2024. 28% are female or female-identifying, and 37% are from the most disadvantaged postcodes in the region (IMD deciles 1 and 2). We are determined to increase both these proportions.
