Hanson Academy has a proud heritage being established as a place of education over a century ago, in 1897. Delta Academies Trust welcomed Hanson into its Trust in July 2022.
Hanson is a large academy with an average of 285 students in each year group. The long established Sixth Form caters for a further 200 – 300 students, offering a range of level 2 and level 3 academic and vocational courses. It is a school which has been on a journey and made incredible gains over the past 2 years since being with Delta. It now has more students passing English and Maths GCSE than most comprehensive schools in Bradford and one of the broadest curriculum offers in the city with over 20 Options subjects at GCSE in addition to core subjects. We run multiple open mornings throughout the year because we are proud of our community and the way our children work, if you want to visit to see for yourself please get in touch.
Hanson Academy has 48 main feeder primary schools, with the majority of our students living within a 3-mile radius and either walking or cycling every day. We are very proud of the students who attend our academy and their engagement with our enrichment curriculum working with West Yorkshire Fire Service, West Yorkshire Police and the Duke of Edinburgh award to name a few examples. We also work with a number of teacher training providers which infuses excellent practice into the academy.
As a diverse but integrated population we take great pride in developing students’ characters and developing their understanding and acceptance of each other and their different backgrounds. We continually promote high expectations of our students, fully appreciating that nurturing the development of young people is a unique privilege. We strive to provide a broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum that respects the needs of all pupils as well as one that encourages young people to seek continuous development and improvement, which in turn will enhance their life chances.
