Teacher of Art and/or Textiles (0.8 FTE) job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed part-time (0.8 FTE) Teacher of Art and/or Textiles to join the team at Hampton Gardens on a permanent basis from April 2026. Exact working days can be discussed at interview. This post would suit either an Early Careers Teacher or a more experienced teacher seeking a new opportunity.

The successful candidate will ideally be able to teach Art and Design across Key Stages 3-5, with the ability to also teach Textiles at Key Stages 3-5 being highly advantageous. However, if the right candidate has experience in one discipline but not the other, this can be accommodated. The ability to teach Product Design will also be beneficial in this role.

About the Department

Our modern facilities include two Textiles rooms, three Art classrooms, and a preparation room, alongside two Product Design rooms and a resistant materials preparation room.

We have a wide range of resources available, including:

  • Sublimation printer and press
  • Computer-aided embroidery machine
  • Printing press and batik pots
  • Ceramics facilities including wheels, kiln, pugmill, and slab roller
  • Dedicated Technicians across both Art & Textiles and Product Design
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Deliver engaging lessons that inspire creativity and foster a love for Art and Textiles
  • Contribute to curriculum development and exciting departmental projects
  • Use effective assessment strategies to support student progress and attainment
  • Promote high standards of behaviour and engagement in lessons and around school
  • Support students as a form tutor, working closely with the pastoral team
  • Contribute to extra-curricular activities, visits and competitions to extend student learning

  • Well-qualified to teach Art and/or Textiles across all Key Stages
  • The ability to teach Product Design would be advantageous

  • Able to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to a dynamic school environment

Hampton Gardens is an 11-19 free school which opened in September 2017 to an initial intake of 180 Year 7 students. When full, the school will accommodate 1200 students in years 7-11 and 300 students in Sixth Form.

Hampton Gardens is part of the Hampton Academies Trust who also run the highly successful and popular Hampton College all-through school, Hampton Lakes Primary School and Dogsthorpe Infant School. HAT schools have very close links and some shared staff.
