West Lakes Academy was inspected in March 2017 and judged to be outstanding in all aspects. A key strength of this report was "Pupils currently in the school are making rapid and sustained progress across all subject areas." We are looking for someone who can improve on that already outstanding performance.

We are a thriving, ambitious and forward thinking 11-18 academy situated on the edge of the beautiful Lake District. Our modern £26m building provides outstanding facilities, incorporating cutting edge technology which creates a bright and motivational learning environment. As a Teaching School and Multi Academy Trust we are building strong links with other schools in the local area and nationally. This role therefore provides significant career development opportunities as we continue to grow. We offer a comprehensive programme of individualised, evidence based CPD as well as encouraging colleagues to further their development through courses such as the National Professional Qualifications, a Masters degree, or supporting extra-curricular qualifications.

The academy’s Sponsors - Sellafield Limited, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and the University of Central Lancashire have each played an important role in its success and are committed to its continued improvement.

The academy has been heavily oversubscribed for the past 6 years, last year seeing 438 applications for 180 places. At the time of advertising we have 1241 students on roll.

We wish to appoint a creative and dynamic practitioner who is passionate about teaching Art and photography, to contribute to our successful department. You will have the ability to teach across all key stages with the drive and commitment to enthuse and inspire pupils at all learning levels.

Our results are amongst the best in the country at both GCSE and A Level and continue to be an extremely popular option at both Key stages.

We can offer a friendly and supportive learning environment with excellent student/staff relationships, unrivalled art and photography facilities in our state-of-the-art building and great professional development opportunities.

We welcome applications from newly qualified teachers.
