Teacher of Art job summary
Full Time (Part Time considered) Teacher of Art required for September 2025
“Every child is an artist” said Picasso and this is a philosophy that we very much adhere to. We are a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted 2022) with great students and ambitious, talented staff. We are also a friendly place to work where every student and member of staff is a valued member of our community. Ofsted commented that “Leaders and teachers know their pupils well and work together to raise aspirations and support them to achieve their goals.”
Art is central to our curriculum and the successful candidate will be joining a small but very ambitious and enthusiastic team which is well-resourced. Art is becoming increasingly popular subject, so the successful candidate will need to be able to teach Art to GCSE. Each classroom is complete with Clevertouch interactive screen and visualiser and the department also has a specialist kiln and a darkroom. The subject area is supported by a technician.
Do you want to work in a school that:
- Places high importance on Art and is seeking to continue to develop and grow this subjects.
- Is friendly and community centred, where staff genuinely feel part of a team
- Places staff well-being at the heart of everything we do.
- Has excellent student behaviour so teachers can teach and students can learn “Positive relationships ensure typically calm, courteous behaviour across the school” (Ofsted 2022)
- Prioritises high quality bespoke CPDL as well as opportunities for collaboration and support across a successful and highly respected multi academy trust.
- Is a key provider of initial teacher training in the local area, working with several local teaching schools and universities including the University of Oxford Department of Education.
You will be joining us at a very exciting time for our school as we continue on our journey. Our students and staff are keen to meet you and show off our fantastic school, so why not come and visit before you apply? We very much welcome interested candidates to contact us to arrange an informal visit.
If you are interested in the post, please complete an application form outlining your reasons for applying and your suitability for the post. The closing date for receipt of applications is Midnight on Sunday 15th June 2025 however, we reserve the right to close a vacancy earlier than the advertised date if we receive applications that meet the criteria. Once a vacancy has closed, we are unable to consider further applications, so please submit your application as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Interview date to be confirmed.
Education has the power to change lives, communities and society for the better. At RLT we believe that we can achieve more for our pupils, trainees, staff and communities by working together rather than alone. Schools in RLT are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to shared principles.
OUR VISION is for our schools and SCITT to improve rapidly, continuously and sustainably: to be better faster together.
OUR ‘WHY?’ is that children and young people ‘only get one go’ in school and therefore as part of RLT we aim to ensure the best possible ‘go’ for our pupils.
OUR ‘HOW?’ is through the highest support and challenge for our schools and each other, underpinned by our principles.
Our employees benefit from a wide variety of support including extensive continuing professional learning and development opportunities, wellbeing and staff networks and access to Defined Benefit Pension Schemes (TPS and LGPS) for all staff. For more information on what it is like to work for the Trust, and the benefits you could access, please see our “Working in RLT” guide.
