Job Purpose
To provide high quality teaching, enable effective use of resources andhigh standardsof learning and achievement for students, within an atmosphere in which students feel challenged,valuedand secure.
Under the reasonable direction of the Headteacher, carry out the professional duties of a schoolteacher as set out in the current School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD).
MainResponsibilities
Planning and Teaching of Art classes up to KS5
Leading a Form Tutor group
The provision of a full learning experience and support for students
Duties
To plan and teach the subjects, classes and groups asallocatedby the Head of Faculty and theSenior LeadershipTeam
To ensure that high quality teaching and learning takes place in allallocatedclasses
To support andparticipatein the curriculum development work of theFaculty, including the writing of schemes of work andprogrammesof study
Toassistthe Head of Faculty in the maintenance ofhigh standardsof work andbehaviourwithin the subject
To be a Form Tutor and to carry out the specified duties as directed by the Year Leader
Toassistthe Subject Lead in developing and implementing a fullprogrammeofextra curricularArt Studies
To support the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team in the effective operation of the school
Plan and prepare all resources for assigned classes and groups
Teach the classesallocated, and provide a well-planned,challengingand purposefullearning environmentforstudents
Support and carry out policies and practices to promote positive studentbehaviourand achievement in Artwithin the framework of the schoolbehaviourpolicy
Set and mark homework on a regular basis
Mark student work promptly in line with faculty and school marking expectations
Contribute positively to the subject and faculty team development through extra-curricular activities and enthusiastic promotion of the subject and its benefits for students
Assess, monitor,recordand report on student achievement in line with School and Faculty Area policy, including creating student reports and attending parent’s meetings
Assistin the identification of student special educational needs, and support the work of the SEND Team
Maintain a neat,orderlyand positive physical classroom environment
Prioritisethe understanding of all student needs, learning gaps and closing these through a data drivenapproach, particularly to support student premium students, SEND and stretching high achieving students
Share in the development and writing of course outlines,syllabusesand schemes of work in Art includingcreation of resources and lessons within the team
Follow the agreed course outlines,syllabusesand schemes of work
Make effective use of student performance data, and student and staff target-setting; andprovide relevantinformation to the Senior Leadership Team
Monitor and record student attendance and punctuality in line with school policy, and supportthe HeadofFaculty and Leadership team in the maintenance ofhigh levelsof student attendance
Prepare for and attend Team and Year Team meetings and support the work of the wider Team
Follow all safeguarding expectations and guidelines as set out by the school and the Trust
Participate in and support the Teachers’ appraisal process
Support the school’s review and refine approach through positive and active participation in the faculty andschool development plans,reviewsand collective improvement
Undertake specific duties within the Art Team as agreed with the Faculty Lead
Create a purposeful and positive school culture through building positive professional relationships withstudents and staff
Create a supportive home-school dialogue through effective and regular contact with student families asrequiredthrough the job role
Take personal responsibility for both the overall professional delivery of the role of a teacher and use linemanagement to effectively seek support in aspects of the post as needed
Undertake such other duties as reasonably required by the Headteacher including open evenings

Chislehurst School for Girls is a non-denominational secondary academy based in Kent, for girls aged 11-18. The school has a rich history spanning decades and is situated in the idyllic town of Chislehurst.
It was originally founded in 1896 as Sidcup High School and was more recently known as Beaverwood School for Girls. The secondary school was renamed in 2014 as Chislehurst School for Girls.
At Chislehurst School for Girls, it is believed that each student has strengths. Through care and knowledge of every individual pupil, teachers strive to develop these strengths. The secondary school’s vision for the future is combined with the traditional values that it believes society respects.
