What skills and experience we're looking for
“Every child is an artist” said Picasso and this is a philosophy that we very much adhere to.
We are a good school with great students and ambitious, talented staff, who aim to develop world class students who have the belief in themselves that anything is possible.
Art and
Design Technology are central to our curriculum and the successful candidate
will be joining a well-led and well-resourced curriculum area. You will need to be able to teach Art and
Photography to GCSE and ideally both to A-level. Each teacher has their own
designated classroom, complete with desktop PC and visualiser. Due to the collaboration with Design
Technology within the curriculum area, there is also access to a shared
computer suite and laser cutter along with dye sublimation resources. The curriculum area is also supported by two
experienced technicians.
What the school offers its staff
We are an 11-18 Academy in the picturesque village of Great Missenden in the heart of the Chilterns. We have just over 1000 students on roll including a successful and growing Sixth Form.
Our staff tell us they genuinely feel like part of a team; a team who are striving to help each student flourish both academically and personally. Would you like to make a difference to the outcomes and life chances of young people? If so, you could become part of our dedicated team.
We are a school which:
- Places high importance on Art and Photography and is seeking to continue to develop and grow these subjects.
- Has a bespoke CPDL programme offering recognised NPQ, SLE opportunities and other off-site training and development for colleagues.
- Takes an evidence informed approach to school improvement, only implementing what we feel makes the biggest difference to our students, being mindful of staff workload and well-being.
- Is a key provider of initial teacher training, working with several local teaching schools and universities including the Astra Teaching School Alliance and the University of Oxford Department of Education.
We can offer you:
- Students who are a pleasure to teach
- An experienced, friendly and collaborative team
- The opportunity to teach this popular subject from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5
- A well-resourced curriculum area
- A supportive approach to workload that removes onerous marking requirements
