Teacher of Boys PE job summary

Teacher of Boys PE

We seek to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Teacher of Boys PE. The ideal candidate for this exciting opportunity will be highly skilled and committed to delivering engaging and inspiring PE lessons, experience of teaching A Level would be desirable but not essential. We are happy to appoint candidates with specialisms across the sporting spectrum, although a good knowledge of rugby union would be useful it is not a deciding factor for the right candidate. If you feel that you have these attributes, and are suitably qualified, then we would like to hear from you.

Within a supportive and ambitious learning environment we welcome applications from those embarking on their teaching career and are motivated and driven to join a successful team, as well as from more experienced colleagues who feel that they have something extra to offer.

Department information

The department is completely committed to excellence, offering a positive and enriching experience in PE through a challenging and inspiring curriculum. We aim to develop students’ sporting talents, academic knowledge and physical wellbeing through high quality, engaging experiences.

All schemes of work and assessments are developed collaboratively across our multi-academy trust. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to further develop these and engage with like-minded colleagues.

The PE department enjoys first class facilities, with a multi-use sports hall, a gym/dance studio, a MUGA with netball and tennis courts, changing and toilet facilities, a separate class teaching space and department office. Outside we have the school field and two high-class football and rugby pitches. We are in the process of bidding for an artificial pitch playing surface on the school site.

PE is one of the largest departments in the school, with 8 members of teaching staff. The core curriculum is a vertically sequenced continuous one, where knowledge and skills are revisited and mastered to develop breadth and depth. Students access the core PE curriculum entirely through physical participation ensuring each child is an active, well rounded sportsperson.

In addition to core PE, we also deliver BTEC Sport Levels 2 and 3. Our mastery and excellence ethos with regards to our content delivery, the sequencing of the curriculum and sporting opportunities have all been praised for being forward thinking. Our reduced marking policy and outstanding professional development opportunities are considerate of staff workload and well-being.

We offer a broad extracurricular programme and are always looking for ways that this can be developed to be as inclusive for as many of our students as possible. We host county wide events, lead the ‘Worcester Girls Can’ initiative, have locally and nationally successful teams and are a founding member of the Worcestershire Schools Games and Inclusion Festival. We are also increasing sixth form opportunities for students as our numbers continue to grow.
