Teacher of BTEC Applied Science and A Level Science (Any Discipline) job summary

Status: Permanent

Hours: Full Time/Part Time

Start date: August 2025

Salary: MPS/UPS

As a rapidly growing college we seek to appoint an inspirational teacher for our science team. Due to existing flexibility in staffing, we can appoint an excellent practitioner in any specialism who aligns with our values. We seek an individual who is passionate about science and supporting students to reach their Next Steps.

You will be someone who cares deeply about eradicating educational disadvantage and sees the value in qualifications like BTEC Level 3 Applied Science as a vehicle to enable a wide range of students to pursue careers in STEM and Allied Healthcare. You will have a real passion for your subject and a belief in the power of education to change lives. You must be an excellent communicator who is well qualified, enthusiastic and hard working. You will be a person of integrity who will strive to do the right thing and the best thing for every student. You will recognise that every student is an individual to be valued, supported, encouraged and challenged to reach their full potential.

Applicants with previous experience of Level 3 BTEC Applied Science will have an advantage but our experienced team will be able to meet the training needs of colleagues who want to transition from other qualifications as long as they come equipped with suitable leadership skills and pedagogical knowledge.

Employee benefits include:

• Free Gym and Pool access at the East Manchester Leisure Centre (no restrictions on hours)

• Co-operative flexible benefits, including cycle to work

• Co-operative credit union

• Health-care cash-back scheme

• Season ticket & rental deposit loans

• Discount on various Co-op branded products

• A curriculum timetable that is designed to enable staff and students to thrive in all aspects of their lives.

You will work as part of a collaborative team of teachers who always seek to learn, develop and improve. Our standards and expectations are high and you will be challenged to make a significant contribution to our continuing drive for excellence. In return, an excellent career and professional development offer is at the heart of the college’s commitment to you. You will also have the opportunity to link with other Co-op Academies across the North West. Our core co-operative values define us. Every member of staff follows our ‘Ways of Being’:

• Do what matters most • Be yourself, always • Show you care • Succeed together.

Connell staff have the rare opportunity to be a catalyst for social change by transforming the lives of the young people in the communities that we serve.  We are a small college and we know all our staff and students well. We work in a modern building and embrace the latest technology. We are an inclusive community. The college experience we offer has a significant impact on every student and we work to ensure that they enjoy learning, excel in their chosen subjects and exceed prior expectations to reach their goals.  If you share our belief that poverty and deprivation should never limit the quality of a young person’s educational experience or their levels of achievement, then we would love to hear from you.

Connell is an inclusive and diverse community and we welcome applications from underrepresented groups.
