What skills and experience we're looking for

The ability to teach Business Studies BTEC up to KS4 is essential. The ability to teach Business at KS5 is desirable. The added role of BTEC Quality Nominee (TLR2c) is also available for the right candidate if interested. A Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £3k p.a. is available for the right candidate.

The successful candidate should be able to deliver excellence in the classroom, providing innovative and inspirational teaching and learning. This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to work with colleagues to build a vibrant and outstanding department as the school grows offering Business qualifications at both KS4 and KS5. This post is suitable for an experienced professional looking to further their expertise or an ECT starting their career who would like a subject leadership once they have passed induction.

Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT) is a multi-academy Trust which was established in 2017.

It currently consists of three secondary schools: Barton Court Grammar School, an 11-18 years, mixed selective school in the heart of Canterbury, rated “Good” with many outstanding features by Ofsted in February 2020, and The Charles Dickens School, an 11-16yrs mixed non-selective school in Broadstairs, which came out of special measures and is rated “Good” by Ofsted in March 2023.

The Trust is also opened Barton Manor Free School, an 11 – 18 years non-selective mixed school in the heart of Canterbury on the former Chaucer School site in September 2022 to Year 7.

Barton Court Grammar School is an Advanced Thinking School and a National Support School (NSS) and the Trust’s Executive Headteacher a National Leader of Education (NLE).
