The person we are looking for should:

· Be creative and hardworking.

Qualifications and experience:

· A graduate with qualified teacher status.

· An outstanding teacher in Business Studies with a strong teaching record or newly/recently qualified (NQTs welcome).

· Relevant qualifications (both formal and through appropriate experience) to meet the challenge of the appointment.

· Excellent in-depth knowledge of the place of Business Studies in the development of young people and of the place of Business Studies within the wider curriculum.

Introduction to the Department

· This area of the curriculum is high profile with an excellent record of success both in examination courses and in the wider achievements of our students including Young Enterprise.

· The College is a first class learning environment with excellent facilities and equipment. The Business area is located in our purpose built learning centre which is equipped to office environment standards with access to a substantial number of PCs. (The College has a network which is both hard wired and wireless).

Duties of role will include:

· To be able to secure high standards of learning and achievement across the full ability range at both Key Stage 4 (GCSE and BTEC First) and Key Stage 5 (A level and BTEC National)

· To be able to demonstrate excellent subject knowledge

· To be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge and understanding of a range of teaching, learning and assessment strategies and know how to use them to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential

· To have high expectations of young people

· To be prepared to contribute to broad aspects of Business Studies and enterprise activities

· To be able to work effectively as part of a team, to identify opportunities for sharing good practice

Planning and deliver high quality teaching and learning which:

· Develops the whole learner, including Business skills of enquiry and curiosity; is engaging, appropriately challenging and relevant.

· Meets the needs of all learners, taking into account the individual requirements of each student.

· Fulfils the demands of the relevant specifications, tutor guides and college ethos.

· Makes a positive impact on student attainment and achievement.

Work with other staff in contributing to student learning including:

· Supporting students outside their timetabled learning sessions through support clinics and tutorials.

· Enhancing students’ experience of Business Studies through involvement in enrichment and extension activities.

· Actively participating in and contributing to Business team meetings.

· Working with other staff to enhance the curriculum, innovate new ideas to improve student outcomes and provide wider enriching experiences for students.

Assessment and Reporting:

· Provide students with regular, incisive feedback in response to their written work.

· Ensure that marking, recording and reporting are in line with college policies.

· Ensure that appropriately challenging targets are set and used with all students, and that these targets are reviewed regularly with respect to attainment and achievement.

· Be able to accurately assess each learning groups’ levels of attainment against student targets and national benchmarks.

Fulfil wider professional responsibilities including:

· Set and maintain high standards, expectations and aspirations for both staff and students, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect and that they receive appropriate guidance, support and recognition.

· Maintain a safe and well-ordered learning environment, safeguarding students’ health and safety, managing behaviour effectively and rewarding success appropriately.

· Actively seek opportunities for professional development to further enhance pedagogy and practice, and keep up to date with curriculum and qualification changes.

*Landau Forte Academy QEMS and Tamworth Sixth Form

Landau Forte Academy QEMS joined the Landau Forte Charitable Trust in September 2011 and delivers education to 11-16 year olds. Landau Forte Academy Sixth Form is a purpose-built establishment providing Level 3 courses, both Advanced Level and BTEC, for the whole of Tamworth and beyond. The academies are located on a shared campus, but both operate from their own facilities, with Landau Forte Academy Sixth Form having new bespoke, accommodation, which opened in September 2011, with a new Sports Hall that opened in 2013.

Tamworth is a historic town surrounded by beautiful countryside, located a short distance from Birmingham. The Academy is located close to the centre of Tamworth, with superb transport links.

Tamworth boasts a range of historical sites and leisure attractions, including: Tamworth Castle; the Tamworth SnowDome and Drayton Manor Amusement Park. Within a 20 minute drive from the town, you can find yourself in the beautiful, open Staffordshire countryside or Birmingham‘s bustling city centre.
