What skills and experience we're looking for

The Royal School is seeking a highly motivated, experienced and innovative Business and Economics teacher to join an ambitious and successful Enterprise team in this heavily oversubscribed day and boarding free school. The aptitude and enthusiasm to teach a range of abilities up to A level is essential. Motivation and passion for the subject is crucial. The school’s distinctive ethos and culture where a truly holistic view of the personal development of the child is central to all that we do. The wider ‘enrichment’ programme at this all-through 4-19 boarding and day school is essential and helps develop confident pupils well equipped for life beyond the school. All staff contribute to this extensive programme with their personal interests and to join in with existing activities. Are you the person to stretch, challenge, support and inspire our students in and outside of the classroom? The Business and Economics department is a vibrant and innovative department of three subject specialists. Both Business and Economics are both successful and popular at GCSE, BTEC and A level. The successful candidate will enhance this reputation by demonstrating ongoing passion for their subject and outstanding teaching practice. The department is integral to a wider school learning community that seeks to develop academic excellence, through exciting teaching and learning experiences. Across both subjects teaching is guided through schemes of learning and assessment to ensure a coordinated schedule, however individual approaches to the teaching of topics remains essential and welcome. The courses are split into sections and regular common assessments are integrated into the schedule to support tracking and monitoring and ensure the best possible outcomes and experiences for each individual student. The current and future success of the department is based upon strong staff collaboration and mutual respect. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both Business and Economics up to A-level. Applicants are expected to hold a strong, relevant degree. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of department teaching and learning resources across both subjects. The successful candidate will be an inspiring classroom practitioner and will show an active interest in the development of students’ passion for the subject, theoretical understanding and their ability to challenge themselves and learn independently. They will be expected to play a full part in supporting and extending the department’s co-curricular provision, including clubs, competitions, seminars, trips and visits.

What the school offers its staff

As a result of The Royal School’s excellent CPD programme and the supportive enterprise team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to: develop professionally; improve and extend their knowledge; develop skills and experience; share outstanding and innovative practice; and contribute to the development of an exciting, challenging and supportive learning environment in and outside of the classroom The Royal School has achieved excellent academic results throughout its history and has an outstanding reputation for nurturing and developing confident, well-disciplined and successful individuals who progress successfully to the next stage of their life and career.
