Moat Community College is seeking to appoint an inspiring and committed teacher to deliver GCSE Citizenship, Personal Development Education (PDE), Careers Education, and Humanities.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking school where personal development and academic success are equally valued. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping students’ understanding of society, citizenship, and future pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach GCSE Citizenship at KS4
- Deliver and plan high-quality Personal Development Education (PDE/PSHE) at KS3 and KS4
- Deliver and plan high-quality Careers Education at KS3 and KS4
- Teach across Humanities at KS3 (subject specialism flexible)
- Be responsible for a tutor group and facilitate student development through a tutorial programme
- Support students’ development as confident, informed, and responsible citizens
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Have experience or interest in Citizenship, PSHE/PDE, Careers, or Humanities
- Be passionate about inclusive education and student wellbeing
- Have high expectations of achievement and behaviour
- Be able to engage students with real-world issues and future pathways
- Work effectively as part of a team

Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Professional Development
- Willingness to participate in future professional development
- Evidence of commitment to own professional development
Experience
- Teaching Citizenship, PSHE/PDE or Humanities at KS3 and/or KS4
- Experience of working with students from a range of ethnic and social backgrounds
Knowledge
- Awareness of current curriculum developments in Citizenship, PSHE/PDE and Careers education
- Use of strategies to promote positive student relationships and wellbeing
- Use of assessment data to improve standards
Skills
- Organised and effective teaching practice
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Competent in the use of ICT to support teaching and learning
Desirable
Qualifications
- Relevant degree or specialism in Citizenship, Humanities, Social Sciences or related field
Professional Development
- Recent relevant in-service training in Citizenship, PSHE/PDE, Careers education or Humanities
Experience
- Experience of teaching GCSE Citizenship
- Experience of delivering Careers Education and PDE
- Ability to teach KS3 Humanities (e.g. History, Geography or RE)
Knowledge
- Understanding of Gatsby Benchmarks and Careers provision frameworks
