The Potteries Educational Trust is a growing Multi Academy Trust, working collaboratively with educational institutions from across Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and beyond, seeking to improve outcomes for all children and young people in the region. The City of Stoke on Trent Sixth Form College is a thriving, lively and successful Sixth Form College, at the heart of the University Quarter in Stoke on Trent. We have fantastic opportunities for innovative, ambitious and committed individuals to join our college at a time of exciting curriculum initiatives and developments. The successful applicants will join the college at a time of growth and opportunity.
The Classical Civilisation A Level Course currently follows the OCR H408E specification, covering a range of themes, including The World of the Hero, The Imperial Image & Greek Religion. Our GCSE course currently follows the OCR J199B specification and forms part of our successful L3 Transition Programme. Themes include Myth & Religion and Roman City Life.
With learner numbers consistently around 22 per year for our A Level Course and 12 for our GCSE course, we are ambitious about expanding this unique subject offer further. We are seeking to appoint an exceptional individual who is enthusiastic about developing learner interest, enriching the curriculum via educational visits, and promoting Classical Civilisation’s relevance in today’s world.
Learner engagement is consistently high, with student voice feedback highlighting their enthusiasm for the subject. University progression is strong, with many of our students continuing to study Classics or related disciplines at university.
