What the school offers its staff

Latin is taught to around 30-45 students in every year group and up to A level. All students have two periods of Latin per week. We follow the Cambridge Latin course fully up to Year 9. Pupils are prepared for Eduqas GCSE examination and OCR for A-Level Latin. In 2021/22, 95% of GCSE Latin candidates gained a grade 9-7 which is typical of results over the last five years. This year, our first cohort will sit the A-Level exam. In addition, over the last three years, we have achieved to expand our department by offering the subject to Year 10s and Ancient History up to A-Level. This has been a great success to our department, as we are currently teaching our first Year 12 cohort.

The Classics department offers many enrichment opportunities. Activities include expeditions abroad with annual trips to Pompeii and Greece and visits to local and national museums and theatres, as appropriate.

Our people are at the heart of our success. We have developed a strong culture of collaboration and best practice, with professional development and career planning at its centre. We invest in our staff with support, coaching, mentoring, and a wide range of top-quality training programmes delivered at every level to senior leadership. We look for talented individuals who share our vision for creating exceptional places of learning, and are committed to ensuring that every child in London has access to the best possible education. In addition to the opportunities for career progression, training and development, we also offer a competitive rewards and benefits package which includes our Harris Allowance for teachers on MPS/UPS, a Performance and Loyalty Bonus, Pension Scheme, electric car scheme, a Wellbeing Cash Plan and many other benefits.
