John Hanson is a successful 11-16 community school, rated as Good by OFSTED. Our students are friendly and confident, and we strive to ensure that they achieve the success they deserve. Computing is part of the curriculum for all students at KS3. It is an option subject at KS4, along with the BTEC Tech Award in Creative Media Production. The department is very forward thinking and continually looks for courses that are relevant to our students. We currently have over 100 students taking our KS4 courses as an option. The Department is well resourced with 2 dedicated Computer Suites and the latest software installed to support an engaging curriculum for our Students. We are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic teacher of Computing to join our hardworking and supportive team. The successful candidate will have excellent, up to date Computing subject knowledge. In addition, they must be prepared to teach a variety of different courses across the department. The successful candidate must have an innovative and engaging approach to lessons to convey the subject to students, and monitor and assess to ensure the best possible progress. The successful candidate must have good organisation and communication skills and embrace school life. They need to be a good team player and able to support the Subject Leader in implementing relevant curriculum and assessment change. If you are an ECT, we have a successful ECT induction program providing full support. ECTs will be paid from the 1st July if available for an early start date.

Location and History

John Hanson Community School is a thriving, mixed gender 11-16 community school in South West Andover, Hampshire, with almost 1000 students. The school has a rich history, dating back to 1582, and was previously known as Andover Free School and Andover Grammar School. In 1974 the school was renamed John Hanson School in honour of its founder, and moved to the current site on Floral Way in 2001.
