Computing at Cambourne Village College is a dynamic and well regarded subject, underpinned by a curriculum that is both ambitious and responsive to the rapidly evolving world of technology. Our department is committed to making computing meaningful and accessible for every student, and this dedication is reflected in the subject's consistent popularity across all key stages.
At KS3, students receive weekly timetabled lessons that follow a carefully sequenced curriculum, building knowledge and skills progressively across programming, computer systems, and digital media. Programming is taught through a range of languages chosen for their suitability to different tasks and their effectiveness in reinforcing key computational concepts. Students also explore the exciting and fast moving fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science, developing an understanding of how these technologies are shaping the modern world. Creative digital skills are developed through web design and image editing, broadening pupils' understanding of what computing can achieve.
At KS4, we offer two distinct and well subscribed pathways. Students following the GCSE Computer Science course build directly on their KS3 foundations, with Python as the primary programming language. Alongside this, our Cambridge National in Information Technology, with its focus on database design and augmented reality app development, has proven an outstanding success in its first full cycle, offering a compelling alternative for students with different strengths and interests.
Cambourne Sixth Form welcomed its first students in September 2024, with A Level Computer Science forming a cornerstone of the curriculum. A Level 3 qualification in IT and Data Analytics is planned for introduction in 2027, further expanding our post 16 provision. We are looking for a candidate who either brings existing KS5 teaching experience or who is genuinely motivated to develop their practice at A Level.
We are now looking to appoint an enthusiastic and skilled computing teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be confident teaching across KS3 and KS4, with a clear willingness to contribute at KS5. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about computing education, eager to make their mark on a thriving department, and excited to be part of an ambitious and forward thinking team.
We welcome applications from ECTs or more experienced staff.

Cambourne Village College, an academy of The Cam Academy Trust, opened in brand new premises in September 2013 with just five forms of Year 7 pupils. Serving one of the fastest-growing communities in the UK, we now have more than 1300 pupils on roll, with major further expansion planned, including the opening of our new sixth form centre in September 2024.
The College has enjoyed remarkable success since opening, gaining an early Ofsted Outstanding rating along with designation as a Leading Edge School. Our pupils achieve excellent results in public examinations via a curriculum designed to offer maximum breadth and opportunity for all abilities. Our extra-curricular offer is also outstanding: annual musical drama performances, termly concerts, a wide range of competitive and recreational sporting activities, and many further clubs and events are on offer. In 2019, we were granted the International School Award by the British Council and are looking forward to re-launching our programme of international visits and exchanges this year.
We strive to be a welcoming and inclusive school for our pupils and also to fulfil our Village College ethos in serving the whole community: we support an active adult education programme and more than 30 local groups and organisations make use of the school’s facilities, out of hours. This unusual commitment to our local community was a key factor in our winning a prestigious Silver Award in the ‘Making a Difference’ category of the Pearson School of the Year celebrations in 2018.
