What skills and experience we're looking for

The Deanery CE Academy is a growing school, in the heart of the community of Wichelstowe. We have the most amazing facilities, inspirational staff and incredible students. We enable our students to flourish when they are at school, to enable them to live life in all its fullness – this is the foundation of our ethos and will form a significant part of our dialogue in all aspects of school life.

The Deanery CE Academy is seeking to appoint an exceptional Teacher of Computing; someone who will raise standards and develop the Computing curriculum across the Academy.

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual with a drive and commitment to excellence, as well as strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a large range of stakeholders.

As a colleague in Swindon, you will work within a diverse learning community, striving to deliver an outstanding working and learning experience for all. You will be joining a supportive, committed and passionate team who work hard to ensure that all of our students achieve their potential. Of course, you will do this whilst capturing the spirit of our vision and values, whilst role-modelling exceptional professional behaviours.

If you are an experienced teacher who can demonstrate a proven track record of successfully raising standards and who is committed to developing teaching practice and a love of learning amongst our students, then we would warmly welcome an application from you.

What the school offers its staff

We can offer you:

  • A commitment to providing you with an extensive programme of continuous professional development
  • A supportive school and wider community
  • The support of an Academy Trust with well-established links with other DBAT schools.
  • An employee benefits package with Salary Extras. This provides discounts of between 3%-15% for a range of retailers.
  • Access to the gym at The Deanery.
  • An employee assistance programme provided by Health Assured, with services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

School visits are warmly welcomed. Please contact the Campus Coordinator (Michelle Bishop) at The Deanery to arrange a visit.

The online application form should be completed in full and should be accompanied by a personal statement/cover letter. CV’s are not accepted.

Salary: MPS/UPS, plus a recruitment and retention allowance of £1,500 per year for 2 years.

The closing date for this advert has been set as 30th November 2023, however applications will be reviewed as they are received, and we would therefore encourage candidates to apply as soon as they are able to do so as the advert may close sooner if a suitable candidate is identified and successfully interviewed.

Interview Date: TBC

Due to teacher resignation dates the start date for the role is advertised as Easter 2024, however an earlier start date may be agreed if availability permits

Commitment to safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young persons. This appointment will be subject to Enhanced DBS disclosure; Disclosure by association document; proof of right to work in the UK and satisfactory references. We are an equal opportunities employer. Please note that proof or right to work in the UK will be required at interview. No CV’s accepted.
