Teacher of Computing and IT job summary
Due to significant growth in student numbers, we wish to appoint a well-qualified, innovative and motivated teacher of IT & Computing, to join the College from 31st August 2021. Applications will be most welcome from both experienced teachers of 16-19 education and those newly qualified wishing to specialise in sixth form teaching. All NQTs will receive excellent support and guidance as they start their career at the College.
Ideally, candidates will have excellent subject knowledge in teaching A Level Computer Science and IT BTEC RQF Information Technology Level 3 Extended Certificate & Diploma.
It is hoped to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who would want to contribute to the future success of the department and be fully involved in the delivery of courses for the 16-19 age group. They should aim to make their teaching an exciting experience for students and to engage them in a wide range of activities which enhance their understanding and commitment.
Virtual interviews will be held during w/c 1st March 2021.

We, as a College, are committed to providing the very best support to all of our students so that they can reach their full potential. Every student is in a tutor group supported by a specialist personal tutor. We also have huge expertise in providing careers and higher education guidance tailored to individuals’ needs. This means students’ progression after College is as smooth as possible. The percentage of our students applying to UCAS who are successful in obtaining university places is very significantly above the national average. Our learning support provision has an excellent reputation as we are fully qualified to support students with a broad range of learning needs to ensure that they are successful. As a 16-19 Academy, we offer a very special environment with the right balance of support and challenge to enable students to thrive and to prepare for their transition to life after College, whether that be employment or further study.
Buildings and Facilities
The College has an excellent site on the SE edge of the city bounded by ancient woodland, the County Hall water gardens and an 11-16 partner school. The building, originally designed for 1,000 girls in the old grammar school and opened in 1962, is of modern construction on four floors and has been adapted to provide access for students with physical disability. A number of building projects both major and minor have been completed since 1984 and high quality specialist facilities are now available to students and staff in all departments.
