Job summary

The computing department is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic teacher to join our small, close knit department to share our passion for delivering Computing.
Computing lessons take place in dedicated, well resourced computer suites. We use a variety of websites and resources within the department including Python, Scratch and BBC Micro:bits. Google Drive is used to share resources within the department and Google Classroom is used for managing classwork and homework alike.
As a team we are passionate about computing and are always looking at ways we can improve our curriculum and teach computing principles in new and engaging ways. Collaboration and teamwork are very important in building a successful curriculum and we believe that increasing students’ enjoyment and curiosity of the subject will enhance attainment and progress. Over the last two years we have taken steps to adapt our schemes of work and resources to meet the requirements of the Computing National Curriculum with our aim to turn our students into well rounded problem solvers.
Computer Science GCSE (OCR) is currently an option and students can select this at the end of year eight. Having three years at GCSE allows students to study programming in more depth during year nine and this also gives time for students to be inquisitive and enjoy the subject. We continue to adapt our schemes of work and assessments to ensure students are well prepared for the rigour of the GCSE exams.
Increasing the profile of the subject has been a recent priority and we have made efforts to expand our extra-curricular offerings including running a coding club and entering competitions such as the recent ChorleyHack competition, where Parklands came first place within their group.
We are a dynamic and forward thinking department where collaboration and team work are the key to ensuring good progress and we look forward to welcoming a new colleague to the team who shares our goal.
