What the school offers its staff

We are looking to appoint an innovative, enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher of Design Technology and Engineering to work within an effective department to ensure that all students make excellent progress and achieve well at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. If you are an outstanding, enthusiastic and ambitious teacher who holds QTS/ is eager to work toward this and has the ability to teach DT and Engineering across all key stages, please get in touch.

We welcome applications from ECTs and more experienced candidates who can demonstrate a passion for teaching Design Technology and Engineering, a commitment to promoting high-quality teaching and learning within this department as well as the ability to inspire students and staff to be the best they can be.

About the department:

The DTE Department has 2 full time members of teaching staff alongside a full time technician. The curriculum for KS3 pupils is very practical based to teach the pupils all the key practical skills they will need for GCSE. Students currently study Design Technology (Product Design) and Level 1/2 Construction at KS4. We have a large number of students who have chosen Level 3 Engineering at A Level. Our curriculum is spiral which allows students to build on skills learnt year on year.The Department has a range of modern design facilities. These include:

  • 2 workshops
  • 1 large Prep Room
  • 1 CAD Lab with 30 PCs and Laser cutting/3D printing facilities

The Department has the following equipment:

  • A2 Spirit GS Laser cutter
  • Cube Pro 3D Printer
  • CNC Routers
  • Metal & Wood Lathe
  • A CAD suite with industry-standard software including Fusion 360 and AutoCAD
  • Pewter Casting machine

Aylward Academy is most definitely a school on the rise. GCSE outcomes are up, attendance to school is up, student adherence to the school ethos
