Stephenson Academy
Stephenson Academy provides education for students both male and female aged between 9 and 16 years. We are the local SEN provision for students with social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). We pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality curriculum, truly individualised to meet the needs of our students, ensuring successful outcomes for all. Teacher of Design Technology and Construction
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance
Hours: Permanent and Full time
The position would suit practitioners with the enthusiasm, creativity and resilience to work in our successful and inclusive Learning Community. If you are already a SEN/SEMH specialist or have experience of working effectively with vulnerable pupils with challenging behaviour and relish the opportunity of moving into special education, then this position is ideal. Applications from both primary and secondary practitioners are welcomed.
We are seeking:
An exceptional teacher to deliver engaging and practical Design Technology and Construction lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to achieve their full potential. The postholder will contribute to curriculum development, promote creativity and resilience, and support the wider aims and ethos of Stephenson Academy.

Stephenson Academy is a successful 80 place special school, which opened in 2012. It has a main site, which caters for 11-16 year olds. We have an associated independent sixth form provision for 16-19 year olds.
As a specialist academy we cater for students who have Education and Health Care Plans with an identified primary need of Social Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH), many with associated challenging behaviour. Many of our students have additional special educational needs such as speech, language and communication difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and mental health difficulties
