shape an exciting and dynamic DT curriculum for our students. KEVICC has a long tradition of delivering exceptional learning opportunities in design. With leadership in DT stepping down after a careers

About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic practitioner who can deliver engaging, innovative lessons across
Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, fostering a love of design, problem-solving and practical creativity. The successful candidate will be committed to high standards, strong classroom practice and continuous improvement. KEVICC has strong design numbers at GCSE and A Level.
For the right candidate, there is the potential to take on a leadership role within the department—
supporting curriculum development, leading student-facing projects and mentoring colleagues as we
continue to nurture and grow our provision.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
Is passionate about Design Technology and the role it plays in empowering young people
Has strong subject knowledge in one or more areas (e.g., Product Design, Engineering, Food, Textiles,
Graphics, Resistant Materials)
Can deliver lessons that are both challenging and accessible
Values practical, hands-on learning and is confident using workshop tools, machinery, and/or digital
technologies
Is reflective, ambitious, and keen to contribute to wider school improvement
Is open to leading others and taking on additional responsibility as the department expands

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Degree in a Design Technology-related discipline (e.g., Product Design, Engineering, Materials,
Graphics, Food, Textiles).
Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to teaching and DT.
Experience
Successful teaching experience across at least one Key Stage, with the ability to teach Key Stages 3,
4 and 5.
Experience of delivering creative, practical lessons using workshop tools, machinery and/or digital
technologies.
Demonstrated ability to raise achievement and inspire engagement in DT.
Experience of contributing to curriculum planning or departmental development.
Evidence of initiative-taking within a team or department.
Ability to support and coach colleagues.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong subject knowledge in at least one DT specialism, with the ability to contribute more broadly
across the curriculum.
Ability to design and deliver high-quality, challenging and accessible lessons.
Confident and safe use of workshop equipment, tools, materials and digital design technologies.
Strong classroom management and behaviour-for-learning skills.
Ability to assess student progress effectively and provide high-quality feedback.
Competence in supporting practical, hands-on learning in a safe, organised environment.
Personal Qualities
Passionate about Design Technology and its role in developing creative, confident young people.
Positive, reflective practitioner committed to continuous improvement.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Totnes Art Foundation Course at KEVICC is set in its own dedicated buildings at the Kennicott 6th Form Centre and is a small, intimate and intense full-time Pearson BTEC level 4 course of 20-30 students each year.
