Teacher of Design Technology job summary

Design & Technology is where creativity meets purpose. It
empowers students to become problem-solvers, innovators, and makers, equipping
them with the skills to design, create, and improve the world around them. At
Don Valley our curriculum is ambitious, hands on, and rooted in real world
application. When taught with energy and imagination, Design & Technology
inspires students to think critically, take pride in their work, and develop
confidence in their ideas.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Design
Technology Teacher who can bring this vision to life; someone who sparks
creativity, nurtures curiosity, and helps every student realise their potential
as a designer and creator. In this role, you will deliver engaging,
challenging, and inspiring lessons across KS3 and KS4, bringing design concepts
to life through practical application and real-world contexts. Through
innovative teaching strategies, you will make complex processes accessible and
meaningful, while planning and assessing in line with the Oasis Curriculum to
drive strong student progress. You will foster a positive and inclusive
workshop environment where students feel confident to experiment, take risks,
and refine their ideas, uphold high expectations for achievement, behaviour,
and personal development, and actively contribute to enrichment opportunities
such as design projects, competitions, and external partnerships.

Who You Are

We are looking for a qualified teacher (QTS) with a genuine
passion for Design & Technology, who combines strong subject knowledge with
the creativity to deliver engaging and purposeful learning experiences. You
will hold high expectations for every student, regardless of background or
ability, and be dedicated to helping each individual succeed. As a reflective
practitioner, you will be committed to continuous professional development,
always seeking to refine your practice. You will also be a collaborative and
positive team player, thriving in a supportive environment and contributing
meaningfully to both the department and the wider academy community.

having the opportunity to make a meaningful, lasting impact on the lives of
young people.
