Teacher of Design & Technology job summary
We are seeking an ambitious, creative and inspiring Design & Technology Teacher to join Park High School’s thriving Design & Technology department. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about the power of design, engineering, creativity and innovation to shape young people’s futures.
At Park High, Design & Technology is more than a subject: it is a place where students learn to think critically, solve real-world problems, experiment with ideas, develop resilience and see the value of learning through making. Our curriculum encourages students to explore a broad range of disciplines, including Product Design, Engineering, Food Preparation and Nutrition, Textiles and Graphics, while drawing on knowledge from Mathematics, Science, Computing and Art.
The successful candidate will teach across the key stages, delivering engaging, challenging and inclusive lessons that inspire students to develop both technical skill and creative confidence. You will play a key role in helping students understand the full design process, from initial concept and research through to prototyping, testing, refining and producing high-quality outcomes. You will encourage students to be curious, imaginative and ambitious, supporting them to see how Design & Technology connects to future careers in engineering, architecture, product design, manufacturing, construction, digital technologies and beyond.
You will join a supportive and forward-thinking department with access to modern facilities, including CAD/CAM, specialist equipment and well-resourced teaching spaces. This is an exciting time for Design & Technology at Park High as the curriculum continues to grow and evolve. We are looking for someone who will bring energy, ideas and expertise, and who will contribute actively to shaping an ambitious curriculum that enthuses, challenges and prepares students for the world beyond school.
Beyond the classroom, you will have the opportunity to support and develop enrichment activities that raise aspirations and bring learning to life. The department has strong links with STEM-focused initiatives and partners, including robotics, transport, engineering and university pathways. Students are encouraged to participate in practical projects and competitions that help them understand the relevance of Design & Technology in the wider world. We want our students to see themselves as designers, engineers, innovators and problem-solvers — and we are looking for a teacher who can help make that happen.
Park High School is a school of character and opportunity. Our values of resilience, integrity, curiosity, teamwork and compassion underpin everything we do. As a teacher here, you will be part of a caring, ambitious and inclusive community where students are encouraged to be the very best version of themselves. You will set high expectations, build positive relationships, and contribute to a culture where excellent behaviour for learning enables creativity and achievement to flourish.
This role would suit an enthusiastic teacher at any stage of their career, including an Early Career Teacher or a more experienced practitioner looking to broaden their impact. We offer strong professional development, supportive leadership, mentoring and opportunities to grow within a collaborative team. You will be encouraged to develop your practice, contribute to whole-school life and play a meaningful role in the academic and personal development of our students.
If you are passionate about Design & Technology, committed to high-quality teaching, and excited by the opportunity to inspire the next generation of creative thinkers, makers and innovators, we would be delighted to hear from you.
