What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking a highly-motivated and passionate individual as a Teacher of Design and Technology at Driffield School and Sixth Form. Our Design and Technology team is a friendly and supportive department. If successful you would be teaching across the department at Key Stage 3 including some Food and Nutrition and specialising in either Design and Technology or Engineering Design at Key Stage 4. You would be working closely with our Subject Leader of Design and Technology, in an established team with three teachers and two technicians. We have excellent facilities, with well-equipped workshops and promote the highest standards of teaching to support students of all backgrounds and abilities. We are also working in partnership with local construction company Reds10 to provide our students with the opportunity to broaden their curriculum experience.

In their last visit (February 2025), Ofsted described our school as ‘an inclusive school, where pupils are encouraged to ‘Be Here, Be Yourself and Be Your Best’. They described Driffield students as ‘kind and respectful’ and ‘inquisitive and motivated to do well.’ As a school, we are dedicated to providing a great teacher in every classroom and are committed to high-quality, collective teacher development. This helps us to reduce the replication of effort and helps all teachers to thrive in our setting. We do this by prioritising the continuing development of our staff. This comes in a variety of forms: professional subject-specific development delivered in department time; INSET days as well as through CPD opportunities across The Education Alliance.

- Trust our staff to plan, prepare and assess at the best time for them, allowing them to go off-site in their PPA
- Have centralised our Behaviour Policy so teachers are freed up from supervising detentions
- Demand ethical leadership built on professional trust
- Reject fads and ensure our CPD is evidence-informed and predominantly subject specific
- Have reduced data collections to twice yearly
- Do not expect staff to respond to emails outside normal working hours
- Do not deploy staff at other Trust schools unless it is at their request
We have removed the following:
- Performance management objectives and performance-related pay
- Lesson observations and high stakes, toxic accountability
- Onerous marking policies
- Requirements for daily or weekly lesson plans
Above all, we recognise that seeking to remove the number of tasks staff undertake will have little effect on improving work/home balance if this happens within a toxic culture. To support this, we offer training for our leaders to ensure they are able to translate our values into behaviours which are built on the principles of dignity, respect, professionalism and integrity.

The Education Alliance Multi-Academy Trust was established in 2015 so that South Hunsley School and Sixth Form College could support the setting up of Hunsley Primary School, the East Riding’s first Free School. In February 2016, Malet Lambert School, an 11-16 school in Hull, joined the trust and the following year, Driffield School and Sixth Form joined as a sponsored academy. The Snaith School, an 11-16 school joined us in April 2019 and North Cave CE Primary School in November 2019. Howden Junior School joined us October 2022 followed by Wilberfoss CE Primary School in May 2023. Howden CE Infant School joined us in September 2023 followed by Naburn CE Primary School who joined on 1 October as a sponsored academy.
In addition to the ten schools, the trust also operates Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training, the only Outstanding SCITT based in East Yorkshire, which is training a new generation of primary and secondary teachers in East Riding and Hull.
