Thornhill Academy is undergoing an exciting journey of growth, including a rebuild as part of the School Rebuilding Programme, commencing April 2026, providing state-of-the-art facilities for staff and students.

The Role
We are seeking a passionate and innovative Teacher of Design Technology to join our dedicated team. You will:

  • Deliver engaging Design Technology lessons in multiple disciplines across KS3 and GCSE.
  • Plan, assess, and provide feedback to promote student progress.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring lessons are inclusive and inspiring.
  • Support the holistic development of students academically, socially, and emotionally.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching, behaviour, and learning.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status and a degree-level qualification.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Design Technology and up-to-date awareness of curriculum developments.
  • Ability to teach across the 11-16 age range, inspiring and motivating students.
  • Excellent classroom management, planning, and assessment skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in planning school trips or innovation in interactive teaching methods.
  • Awareness of current GCSE syllabus development.

Personal Attributes

  • Passionate about student learning and achievement.
  • Strong emotional resilience, positivity, and professional integrity.
  • Ability to build constructive relationships with students, colleagues, and the wider community.
