๐ญ Looking for a school that truly understands the power of performing arts?
At Kettering Science Academy, we believe Drama matters deeply. Not only for the students who go on to perform at the highest level, but for the young people who find confidence for the first time, discover their voice, learn to collaborate, take creative risks, and begin to believe they belong.
We believe the performing arts develop discipline, resilience, critical thinking, communication, and ambition. They help young people understand themselves and the world around them. That is why performing arts at KSA is not treated as an โextra.โ It is becoming increasingly central to the culture and identity of the academy.
At KSA, we also believe that kids do well if they can. Relationships matter here. We are ambitious for our students and uncompromising about standards, whilst also recognising the importance of belonging, trust, and feeling seen within a school community.
Over the last two years, performing arts at KSA has undergone significant investment and transformation. Historically underinvested and underdeveloped, the area is now becoming increasingly central to the life of the school. As part of this commitment, all Key Stage 3 students receive two hours of Drama, two hours of Music, and two hours of Dance across the fortnightly timetable.
Drama is growing rapidly in popularity at Key Stage 4, with ambitions to introduce the subject at Key Stage 5 in the future as the department continues to grow.
๐งญ We are looking for a unique individual: someone who is an excellent classroom practitioner, who brings energy, ideas, and high standards, and who genuinely believes in the power of performing arts to change young peopleโs confidence, engagement, and aspirations.
This role would suit someone who understands that Drama is both a creative subject and a disciplined craft. Someone who wants to contribute fully to the wider life of the school through productions, performances, enrichment, and community work, whilst also helping shape the future direction of performing arts at KSA.
At KSA, we do not accept the idea that โitโs only a school production.โ Our performing arts team hold themselves to industry-level standards wherever possible, both professionally and creatively. Many continue to perform themselves or maintain strong links with professional performance work, and we are looking for someone who brings that same professionalism, ambition, and passion to the role.
This is not a department standing still. We are ambitious not only for KSA, but for performing arts across the wider Trust and beyond.
The role will involve:๐ญ Delivering high-quality Drama lessons rooted in both creativity and strong classroom practice.
๐ฌ Contributing to the continued development of a broad, ambitious Drama curriculum.
๐ Playing a full role in an extensive extracurricular programme across all key stages, including our annual whole-school musical, community performances and showcases, National Theatre connections programme, and opportunities linked to the Royal Shakespeare Company.
๐ค Supporting students to perform with confidence, professionalism, and ambition.
๐ค Working collaboratively and cooperatively within a dynamic and ambitious performing arts team.
๐ Helping shape the future direction of Drama and performing arts within the academy.
๐ค A leadership team that genuinely values and invests in performing arts.
๐ซ Strong and growing performing arts provision and facilities.
๐ High-quality CPD and professional development through the Brooke Weston Trust.
๐ญ A thriving department with energy, ambition, and exceptionally high standards.
๐ฅ Daily allowance for breakfast and lunch.
๐ฑ The opportunity to help shape and grow a rapidly developing area of the school.
If you want to work in a school where performing arts are valued, ambitious, and increasingly central to the life of the academy, we would love to hear from you.
