Teacher of Drama job summary

Wembley High Technology College is one of the highest performing schools in the country. Nationally, the achievement of our pupils is exceptional; in 2024, our Progress 8 score of +1.43 meant that our students on average achieved nearly one and a half grades higher than their peers nationally. This progress from Key Stage 2 to GCSE has a transformative impact on our pupils’ life chances and last year, over 60% of pupils leaving us went on to Russell Group universities to study a range of academic subjects.

The Dreama Science Department

‘Achievement for All’ is the ethos that underpins everything we do across the WMAT, and the Drama Department plays a central role in developing confident, articulate, creative young people who can collaborate, communicate and perform with impact. Drama at Wembley High Technology College is a thriving and highly valued subject, embedded within the life of the school and at the heart of our wider culture of performance.

The Drama Department is led by passionate, highly skilled and committed practitioners, working with motivated, ambitious and expressive students. Drama is taught at GCSE level and as part of the IB Diploma Programme in Theatre, offering students rich opportunities to develop as reflective performers, directors and theatre-makers. Sixth Form students are supported to pursue ambitious post-18 pathways, with Drama providing an excellent foundation for a wide range of creative, academic and professional routes.

Beyond the curriculum, WHTC has a strong culture of performance. We run LAMDA qualifications, providing students with nationally recognised accreditation in acting, public speaking and performance. Our vibrant House System is a defining feature of the school, with House Drama and House Public Speaking forming flagship events in the school calendar and showcasing the talent, confidence and teamwork of our students. We are seeking a teacher who is excited to drive this culture forward, inspire participation and help performance flourish across the whole school community.

Drama teaching is supported by dedicated performance spaces and a collaborative approach to planning, with a strong focus on high-quality resources and shared practice. The co-curricular programme is lively and ambitious, and staff play a key role in enriching students’ experiences through performances, competitions and enrichment opportunities.

Through the Training School Hub, leaders at all levels of the Trust benefit from exceptional professional development, including fully-funded, DfE-accredited NPQ programmes.
