Greenshaw High School is a highly over-subscribed 11-19 comprehensive school situated in Sutton, south-west London, and is part of the Greenshaw Learning Trust. We are looking for a highly motivated and committed individual with a passion for Economics and the ability to inspire our staff and students to join our school as a Teacher of Economics. The successful candidate will teach Economics up to Key Stage 4 (up to Key Stage 5 would be desirable) and play a central role in the Social Sciences department, with the highest ambitions for learning and rigorously high expectations. For the right candidate, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established department and make a contribution to its ambitious vision for the future.

The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and a genuine passion for teaching Economics, with detailed knowledge of current curriculum and pedagogical developments in their subject and the wider curriculum. A desire to raise overall achievement in Economics through promoting the highest standards of teaching and learning is essential.

Our NQT offer includes: a dedicated senior professional mentor, weekly purposeful practice of techniques and strategies, evidence-informed induction on the science of learning, a strong focus on pedagogical content knowledge, support on maintaining a sensible workload, a supportive behaviour management system and high levels of professional trust and collegiality.

Economics sits within the Social Sciences department at Greenshaw High School, alongside Psychology and Sociology and is an extremely popular and highly successful subject at GCSE and A-level. Many of our students have gone on to study at top universities in the country, giving them a valuable base from which to pursue a wide range of careers. The faculty is committed to the high quality provision of each of its subjects and its teaching staff are passionate about their subject, knowing that it will both benefit students academically and improve their general understanding of the world in which we live. The department teaches for exam success and greater social awareness, and is successful in delivering both.
