Teacher of Economics job summary
Shape the Future of Economics at Stratford Girls’ Grammar School
Are you ready to inspire ambitious young economists in one of the country’s most successful selective schools? Stratford Girls’ Grammar School is an outstanding 11-18 academy where exceptional academic standards sit alongside a warm, inclusive community in which both students and staff flourish.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, well-qualified Teacher of Economics to join us from September 2026. This is a part-time role of approximately 0.52 FTE in 2026-27 (including one final Year 11 GCSE Business class). From September 2027, the post becomes a dedicated 0.4 FTE A-level Economics position as the department focuses fully on Economics, creating real scope for the successful candidate to help shape curriculum thinking, enrichment and the next phase of the subject.
Economics is a popular, high‑performing subject at SGGS, with highly motivated Sixth Form groups and strong outcomes. Our students are bright, articulate and genuinely curious about the world, so lessons are characterised by discussion, debate and academic depth. You will bring passion, creativity and a commitment to dynamic teaching that challenges and inspires, alongside a willingness to contribute to our strong super‑curricular programme, university and employer links, and wider school life.
As an outstanding school, we offer a supportive, collaborative environment built on trust and professional autonomy. Staff voice shapes our approach to workload and wellbeing, including the option to take PPA time at home, and our small, compact site creates a genuine community feel. Alongside our strong whole‑school programme, you will benefit from subject‑specific professional development and encouragement to engage with external CPD and networks.
If you are excited by the chance to help shape the next chapter of Economics at SGGS and to support young people to achieve their very best, we would be delighted to hear from you. This school is committed to safeguarding, equality of opportunity, and promoting the welfare of children and young people. An enhanced DBS check will be required. This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
