What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious teacher who is able to teach English throughout the school at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and A-Level. The successful candidate will be well-qualified & have a passion for their subject.

English is taught to all students throughout Key Stage 3; students have four lessons each week. At GCSE, all students take both English Language and English Literature at GCSE. Both of these subjects are currently offered at Key Stage 5 and the faculty also offers Media Studies as an A-level subject.

What the school offers its staff

The English faculty comprises 10 full time and 1 part time specialist members of staff. The faculty is housed in a dedicated block with nine classrooms, including its own IT suite, staff base and a library resources centre that has recently been completely refurbished. Through hard work and dedication, the faculty has consistently produced results that are typically above average. Typically around 90% of students achieving grade 4 in English at GCSE and 20% achieving a grade 7 or above. In the Sixth Form, English and Media Studies have been popular subject options and several students go on to do English related courses at university each year.
