About You

Do you believe that every student, no matter their start in life, deserves a high quality, engaging English education?

At its heart, teaching English is about giving a young person the keys to their own future. It’s about more than just analysing a sonnet; it’s about providing the tools for a student to advocate for themselves, to understand the world around them, and to find their own unique voice.

We are looking for a teacher who believes, as we do, that every child, no matter where they start in life, deserves exceptional teaching and a genuine shot at success. If you are motivated by the privilege of supporting vulnerable learners and find joy in seeing a student finally realise their own potential, we would love to meet you.

As a school, we believe that English goes beyond the taught curriculum. Whether that’s running an after school debate club, supporting school productions, or helping to foster our whole school approach to a life long love of reading, your role is about being a visible, supportive presence and a passionate advocate for your subject. You will share our belief that English outcomes unlock a life of chances and choices for young people.

We know that to look after our students, we have to look after you. We pride ourselves on a culture where wellbeing is at the heart of all we do. You’ll have the support of a full-time Instructional Coach and bespoke professional development to help you grow, all within a team that values purposeful routines, a centrally planned curriculum and high expectations for all.

If you are energised by the idea of using English as a tool for life and want to be part of a community that is driven by the desire to transform outcomes, we’d love to hear your story.

Why Join Us

This is an exciting time to join The Oxford Academy, where our values of ‘commitment to others, commitment to learning’ drive everything we do. We are looking for a dedicated professional who shares our belief that education has the power to transform lives and communities.

At our school, support is a collective effort: it’s seen in our Sixth Formers tutoring younger pupils, our student-led assemblies on social responsibility, and our celebrated Student Council, whose representatives influence local policy on transport and safety at Delegates' Assemblies.

We don’t just work within the community; we are an active part of it. From hosting our annual Community Iftar to partnering with the Oxford Hub Pre-Loved School Uniform Shop, we ensure our families feel cared for and included. If you have high expectations of yourself and others and want to be part of a culture where strong, warm relationships are the foundation of learning, we would love to welcome you to the team.

While this position is advertised as full time, we will consider those seeking part time hours. Please indicate this is your preference on the application form.
