What are we looking for?

We are seeking a dynamic and inspirational teacher who:

  • Has a strong subject knowledge and a love for English literature and language.
  • Is committed to raising standards and improving student outcomes.
  • Has a proven track record or strong interest in leading whole-school literacy initiatives.
  • Can foster a culture of reading for pleasure and academic success.
  • Is a team player with excellent communication and leadership skills.

Your role will include:

  • Teaching English across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Leading the development and implementation of the school’s literacy and reading strategy.
  • Supporting colleagues with literacy-focused CPD and classroom strategies.
  • Coordinating reading interventions and enrichment activities.
  • Promoting a reading-rich environment throughout the academy.

The ideal candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status and degree in specialist subject
  • Experience of teaching at KS3 to KS4
  • Evidence of securing high outcomes from students
  • Ability to use IT to support effective teaching and learning
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
  • Effective form tutoring and committed to the importance of pastoral support
  • Understand and be a proud advocate of the five values of all Meridian Trust schools
  • Believe that students make the best progress when teaching is well planned and well delivered
