Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English Language and Literature at KS3 and KS4.
  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring high expectations and strong outcomes.
  • Provide constructive feedback and use assessment effectively to accelerate progress.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and innovative English department.
  • Inspire a lifelong love of reading, writing, and critical thinking.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience of teaching English at Key Stage 3 and 4, with proven GCSE success desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of the English National Curriculum and exam board requirements.

Skills & Qualities:

  • Enthusiastic about literature, language, and creative writing, and able to share this passion with students.
  • Skilled in differentiating lessons to meet diverse learning needs (including SEND and EAL).
  • Strong classroom presence with excellent behaviour management.
  • Confident in using data and technology to support learning and progress.

Professionalism & Attitude:

  • Resilient, reflective, and committed to continuous professional development.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive approach to school life.
  • Willing to support or lead enrichment opportunities, such as clubs, competitions, or trips.
  • Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils.
