Our Opportunity

Filey School is looking to appoint a Teacher of English to join us in September 2025. This role presents a brilliant opportunity to play a pivotal part in the improvement journey of the school. Our English results are improving at pace and you will be able to enjoy teaching students who are keen to learn and who will value your enthusiasm and love of subject. Your inspirational Head of Department is ambitious for better and better outcomes for our students and she really believes in the joy and value of English. Come and be a part of the English team effort at this really exciting stage of their journey.

Filey Secondary School

Filey School is a close-knit community, and we pride ourselves on knowing all of our pupils well. We understand how vital it is that students from Filey and surrounding areas enjoy the benefits of an engaging and enriching curriculum offer that results in the very best outcomes for them. We want them to be able to realise their full potential and to do great things. We aim to support our students so that they are confident, community-minded young people who love learning and will be a positive presence wherever they choose to go next.

We aim to ensure that our pupils can learn in a safe and supportive environment, where everyone values academic achievement and has a positive attitude to learning. Our recent Ofsted inspection acknowledged the improvement journey that the school is on and we are fully committed to building on the successes we are having for the good of our students. We place learning at the heart of everything we do and believe that all students should have the opportunity to feel proud of their achievements. As such, we believe in rewarding pupils for good behaviour, attendance and achievement and run a number of celebration events throughout the year.

We strongly encourage our pupils to take part in enrichment activities so they can discover all their strengths and talents, and run numerous clubs, as well as pupil support sessions and interventions. We also regularly organise whole school events and educational visits so that our pupils have a broad experience of learning beyond the classroom. Recent overseas trips have included visits to Berlin and the Western Front and there are regular theatre trips and sporting fixtures.

Coast and Vale will shortly be joining Delta Academies Trust, a high-performing Multi Academy Trust that is transforming educational outcomes for students in some of the most deprived areas in the North of England.

As part of Delta Academies Trust, you’ll have access to ongoing CPD (both internally and externally) with the opportunity to further develop your skills and career alike. You’ll join a large network of colleagues across the trust, meaning lots of collaboration and peer support both within your academy and beyond, as well access to an extensive range of employee benefits that focus on your financial, physical and mental wellbeing.

Ultimately, here at Filey, we understand that our pupils are most successful when they feel happy, valued, challenged, and supported to achieve their very best. We hope you’re excited to be a part of making that happen.
