What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a passionate and creative Teacher of English to join our dedicated team at Newhaven School, a specialist provision for students with additional needs. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a supportive, collaborative environment and wants to make a real difference in the lives of students.

This role is not suitable for ECTs. This post is situated at the Gardens site. This site comprises the Pupil Referral Unit, the Assessment Centre and NEST. In addition, we have the King’s Park site, which is for students with a diagnosis of autism, an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and an enduring mental health condition.

For This role would suit an experienced, creative teacher who:

-Has a passion for teaching English and enjoys introducing students to a wide range of literature.

-Ideally has experience working with students with SEN or has a trauma-informed teaching background or is interested in developing skills and experience in these areas.

- Is able to build positive, lasting relationships with students, motivating them to engage with their studies and achieve their best.

- Is highly organised and very adaptable to a fast-paced environment.Can work collaboratively within a small team, sharing ideas and contributing to the department’s success.

The Role

As an English Teacher, you will:

- Teach mixed ability classes, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

- Foster a love of literature and language, building meaningful relationships with students to help

them succeed.

-Plan and deliver dynamic lessons using a variety of media and resources to cater to a wide range

of learning styles.

- Design and create schemes of work which are bespoke and in line with the sometimes complex

needs of our students.

- Contribute to the development of our flexible curriculum and support students in achieving their

potential.

- Work collaboratively with colleagues to share ideas, resources, and best practices in a

supportive team environment.

A part time teacher is required to join our team in the Royal Borough of Greenwich The Newhaven Outreach team meets the needs of young people in the borough of Greenwich who are unable to attend an in school provision and require support in their homes or local community.
