The Role

You will:

  • Teach English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
  • Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and well-structured lessons
  • Inspire a love of reading, writing and language
  • Use assessment effectively to secure strong progress and outcomes
  • Contribute to curriculum development and innovative practice within the department
  • Play an active role in the wider life of the school, including enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities
  • Work collaboratively within a supportive and well-resourced team

  • Holds QTS (or equivalent) and a degree in English or a related subject
  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations for all learners
  • Has strong subject knowledge and a passion for English
  • Uses creative and inclusive teaching strategies to engage students of all abilities
  • Is reflective, ambitious and committed to continual professional development
  • Works well as part of a team and contributes positively to department and whole-school improvement
