What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and inspirational Teacher of English to join our successful and expanding department. This post is suitable for an experienced teacher or an ECT seeking to start their career in a caring and supportive team with expertise in training and development. They must have a relentless drive for the highest standards of learning and achievement. The successful candidate will join our staff team who are at the cutting edge of pedagogical thinking. We are looking for someone who has a passion for teaching English, who will be an effective member of the team, and will make a positive contribution to the day to day running of the English department. Part-time and flexible working requests may be accommodated.

Testbourne is a high performing school, with students achieving excellent results. In August 2024,76% achieved a ‘standard’ pass of grade 4 and above in English and Maths combined. An excellent total of 52 grade 9s were achieved by our year 11s across their subjects. Progress was also good for all students including those with SEND. English Language achieved 84% grades 9-4, with 22% achieving grade 7 or above. English Literature also achieved 87.8% grades 9-4.
