What skills and experience we're looking for

For September 2024, we are looking for an exceptional colleague to join our dedicated English Department on a fixed term basis until 31st December 2024. We seek a highly skilled and enthusiastic teacher who can inspire students and facilitate rising attainment in this key subject. The successful candidate will be able to teach ages 11-16 in this talented and well-resourced department. We follow the AQA GCSE English Language and Literature syllabi.

Crofton is a happy, and ambitious school, excited about our journey to becoming exceptional. We strive to appoint the most inspirational teachers, so if you are an imaginative and energetic teacher, able to contribute to our culture of sharing best practice and want to make a difference to the life-chances of all the students in your care, then this could be the post for you. Our teachers routinely deliver great lessons which are well-planned, highly challenging, innovative and active for our learners. The successful applicant must be prepared to share their practice with colleagues and fully contribute to our in-house programme of continuing professional development.

We are a popular, over-subscribed and successful mixed comprehensive school, with a great reputation for high quality education. The school is situated in a pleasant village, a short distance from the sea, yet within easy reach of the city centres of both Portsmouth and Southampton. The school enjoys enthusiastic staff, governor and parental involvement and has an active commitment to staff development.

Applications from experienced colleagues and Early Careers Teachers are equally welcome. We have an outstanding ECT Induction programme to offer support to new staff. The person appointed will be given full support in their career development as we believe that development of staff is a key aspect in raising standards for our students.
