Teacher of English job summary

We are seeking an inspirational classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge to join our outstanding and committed English department. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, hardworking and passionate teacher of English literature and language. The post would be suitable for either an NQT or an experienced teacher. You will be required to teach across the age and ability range through Years 7 to 11. The person appointed will be joining a committed, experienced and friendly team of staff. This is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with colleagues and develop strategies and good practice to promote English throughout the school. It is very important for the successful applicant to be: • passionate about English language and literature • creative in their approach to teaching • able to work co-operatively with a team of teachers • hardworking and conscientious • willing to undertake class teacher responsibilities including the pastoral and welfare oversight of children if required At Goldington Academy, we believe that English is central to a child's academic success and is the key to being able to access and enjoy the whole school curriculum. Drama and ICT play an integral role in English. Pupils are encouraged to use a range of programmes and research methods to enhance their learning. As well as two well- equipped ICT suites, iPads are used for movie making as well as to cement the learning of grammar and punctuation. (e.g. Wordjuice; Spellfix) The well-stocked Library is organised to support Accelerated Reader. The library is a bright and open environment designed to be a calm space to read for pleasure. The library is also used as a hub to support learning.
