Hodgson Academy is a mixed comprehensive school for students aged 11 to 16. We provide a first rate, all-round education for children of all abilities.

The academy is a vibrant and exciting learning environment. Students, after all, need to be happy to be successful. The academy’s ethos is friendly, positive and well disciplined. We have high expectations for every single student here, to ensure they strive to achieve to the very best of their ability.

Each individual is appropriately supported and challenged throughout their time here. Examination results are consistently amongst the highest in Lancashire and compare extremely well nationally.

The vast majority of Hodgson students go into further education at 16 and large numbers enter higher education at 18. There’s an exceptionally wide range of extra-curricular activities to complement learning.

All students are encouraged to participate in some form of our extended provision – entitled the Hodgson Experience – to aid personal growth.

The academy is especially proud of its reputation in music, drama and sport. Hodgson was judged as ‘outstanding’ following our last full Ofsted inspection in September 2008.

In 2011, Ofsted revisited to look at the provision within our English department. Achievement, teaching and learning, curriculum, leadership and management and overall provision were all judged to be ‘outstanding’ within English.

The academy is renowned for being cutting edge and at the forefront of exciting changes within the education landscape.

Hodgson is a National Teaching School, in partnership with Blackpool Sixth Form College, so plays a leading national role in supporting the training and professional development of the teaching profession.

We believe in lifelong learning for all. Education should be a challenging and enjoyable experience, where hard work and a desire to achieve the best bring their own rewards.

Students are supported to gain the appropriate qualifications, skills and attributes they need for further education and a successful life after school.

As a consequence, our students are well educated, well rounded, confident and respectful of others. A warm welcome awaits you at Hodgson Academy.
