Looking for a change in direction? Would you like to teach small groups of pupils unable to attend their usual school due to a mental or physical health condition? Hospital and Outreach Education AP Academy (HOE) are currently seeking a proactive, confident and enthusiastic teacher of English. We are looking for someone who will develop, maintain and teach an innovative, inclusive and engaging curriculum to our secondary aged young people. This is a rare opportunity to join our welcoming team delivering education to a wonderful community of pupils.

Hours: Part time 0.67 FTE over 4 days. Additional hours may be available.

Timing: From the 1st September 2026

Location: Northampton (some teaching may be required at other locations in Northamptonshire). Lessons will be a mix of face-to-face and online.

Salary: MPS/UPS based on experience + 1 SEN point (currently £2787)

This position is temporary for two years in the first instance.

Essentials: You must hold QTS and have experience of teaching English in a secondary school or equivalent environment at KS3 and 4. Experience of A Level is desirable. Applicants from Early Career Teachers may be considered. You must hold a driving licence and have access to a vehicle as you may be required to drive between our teaching locations during the working day. Motor insurance covering business use is required (usually you can add this to existing policies at little or no cost).

This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly successful Alternative Provision Academy for children with medical needs.

The successful candidate will be closely aligned with the core values and ethos of HOE and possess a genuine understanding and appreciation of the challenges faced by pupils with medical and mental health difficulties in accessing education.
