An excellent education for every child, in every classroom, every day.

Lift Greenwood is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of English to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to inspire students and foster a lifelong love of reading, writing and literature.

At Lift Greenwood, we believe English is central to every student's success. Our curriculum is designed to develop empathetic, confident and reflective learners who respond thoughtfully to the themes, characters and ideas they encounter in texts. Students are supported in becoming skilled readers, analytical thinkers, and effective communicators through engaging, carefully sequenced learning experiences.

Lift Greenwood is a forward-thinking secondary school within Lift Schools, an ambitious multi-academy trust of 59 schools, including 10 across the Midlands. Staff benefit from excellent professional development, strong support networks, and clear career progression opportunities.

Led by Principal Daniel Opoku, Lift Greenwood has a clear and ambitious vision to become one of the highest-performing schools in the country by 2030.

About the Role

The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that develop students' reading, writing, analytical and spoken communication skills.

At Key Stage 3, students develop strong foundations in reading, writing and literary analysis through the study of a broad range of prose, drama and poetry.

At Key Stage 4, students build on these skills through GCSE English Language and Literature, exploring a diverse range of texts while developing analytical writing, comparative skills and exam confidence.

We are looking for someone who:

* Has a passion for English and literature
* Can inspire and motivate students of all abilities
* Has high expectations for achievement and behaviour
* Creates a positive and engaging classroom environment
* Is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning
* Promotes a love of reading, writing and effective communication

You will be joining an experienced and collaborative English department committed to delivering high-quality teaching and ensuring all students are supported and challenged to achieve their full potential.

What You'll Need to Succeed

You will have experience delivering a broad and balanced English curriculum and creating a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and motivated to succeed. You will be confident in planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing progress effectively, and providing high-quality feedback that raises standards and outcomes.

You will also work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff, as well as parents and carers, to support students' personal development, respond to individual needs, and promote a culture of inclusion, ambition and high expectations.

Who is Lift Schools?

And we do this across each of our 59 schools. As with our students, we want our team to be empowered to do their best work, supported by the best leadership they've ever had.

We acknowledge and appreciate the exceptional efforts of everyone here in making this an incredible organisation.

* Our partnership with One World powers our innovative Instructional Excellence Program. We also offer a comprehensive range of CPD programs, including Ambition Institute's Early Career and NPQ offerings, tailored to both individual and network needs.

Lift Greenwood is a vibrant, successful 11-18 school situated in the heart of Castle Vale. We moved into our £20 million new build in September 2017 with world class facilities. Coupled with this is a highly professional staff and students who are keen to learn. As a result of being oversubscribed, we are embarking on the next wave of recruitment for the highest calibre of staff who can help us to grow our school community.

So why work at Lift Greenwood?

1. Teaching and Learning

Quality first teaching is at the core of everything we do. To support this, our evidence-based Teaching and Learning vision incorporates Barack Rosenshine’s Principles of Direct Instruction. Literacy is a significant part of every lesson. Standard written and Spoken English is insisted upon and modelled by all teachers to ensure our students can achieve their potential.

Most importantly, we do not grade observations at Lift Greenwood, we believe that regular, developmental feedback creates a strong, supportive and vibrant culture.

2. Expectations

We have a firm and fair approach to behaviour, systematically supported by senior staff; all pupil detentions are centralised and run by senior staff every day. Teachers are therefore able to prioritise the planning and teaching of their subject.

3. Work-life balance

We are committed to reducing teacher workload and making sure that everything we do has a positive impact on pupil learning. This means we have a slimmed-down marking policy, a centralised knowledge focused homework policy, no parents evenings and a minimal assessment, reporting and data entry cycle.

Ofsted

We are judged to be a 'Good' school and we were last inspected in October 2021.
