We have an exciting opportunity to join our specialist team of staff supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health issues. This role is based at our Weston-super-Mare site and will suit an English Specialist with experience of working up to GCSE standard, who can also teach across other subjects.

Lime Hills is a rapidly progressing and expanding special school for students with Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties in years 5-16.  The successful candidate will act as both pastoral and curriculum keyworker for a small group of young people delivering a range of subject content and skills. We are looking for candidates with a breadth of experience of working with young people, who are enthusiastic, resilient, highly motivated and are passionate about inclusive education. 

About you:

You will be:

  • a qualified teacher or hold an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • able to deliver the curriculum in your chosen area and consistently teach high quality lessons across relevant key stages.
  • able to meet the needs of learners from key identified groups, including pupil premium, looked after children, SEND and High Attaining students.
  • a strong communicator with the ability to embrace change, motivate colleagues and build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • able to recognise, value and support the delivery of opportunities which extend beyond the confines of classroom delivery and seek to enrich and add value to the students experience & learning.
  • empowered to develop your own expert practice and support the development of others.
  • highly competent in all elements of the Teachers’ Standards and your achievements and contribution will be substantial and sustained as an Upper Pay Scale teacher.

About Lime Hills Academy:

Lime Hills Academy is a special school for young people in years 5-16 who have an EHCP to support their SEMH needs. We will soon be moving into our new build in Churchill, but as a temporary arrangement, we have been supported by the DfE and CLF to deliver our provision across two sites: a secondary site in Weston and a primary site in Nailsea.

At our core, is a belief that every young person deserves the right to an educative experience that prepares them for adulthood and opens doors at post-16. We do this by providing a targeted core curriculum that focuses in equal parts on literacy, numeracy, and PSHE. This is enriched through outdoor learning, benevolent childhood experiences, arts, topic-based learning and specific interventions.
