Teacher of English (Maternity Cover) job summary
This is an excellent opportunity in an flourishing and successful Church of England Academy where the wellbeing and development of all members of our school community are high priorities. A full-time temporary English Teacher (Maternity Cover) is required for early November 2021 in our award-winning and Outstanding Church School (SIAMS). Our school is heavily over-subscribed and its record in public examinations is consistently strong.
The school of 1000 pupils, plus a Sixth Form of 300 students, is attractively and conveniently situated close to the Ribble Valley and has excellent motorway connections via M65 to M6 and M62.
The English Department is very successful and occupies a central place in the life of our Church School. In summer 2019, 82% of Year 11 gained a GCSE grade 4-9 in English Language, and 31% a grade 7-9.
A committed and enthusiastic teacher is sought to teach English throughout Key Stages 3 and 4. The post becomes available owing to the maternity of the current post-holder.

St Christopher’s opened in 1958 and is an outstanding 11 - 18 Church of England Academy.Our caring community is based on a close partnership between staff, parents, pupils and governors and we foster strong links with local parishes and clergy, six of whom serve as School Chaplains.
