Fortis Trust is seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated Teacher of English to join our English department in a specialist SEN setting on a fixed term (1 year) contract. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is committed to ensuring every learner, regardless of need, can flourish, progress, and achieve their fullest potential.
As a Teacher of English, you will design and deliver engaging, accessible, and adapted lessons that inspire confidence in reading, writing, and communication catering for students with learning needs, autism and communication difficulties.
The academy seeks to appoint an enthusiastic, qualified teacher of English to join an innovative forward-thinking department. The department currently offers qualifications including entry level and GCSE, and the successful candidate would have the opportunity to teach at all levels.

We are looking for someone who:
- Is a qualified teacher (QTS), ideally with experience in SEN or a strong interest in developing their skills in this field
- Has a deep understanding of English education and the ability to adapt teaching to a wide range of needs and abilities
- Desirable - experience delivering phonics
- Is patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about supporting students with diverse learning profiles
- Can work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
- Is reflective, resilient, and committed to continuous professional growth
Applicants should have a clear understanding of effective teaching, raising and sustaining achievement, and the care and support of complex individuals. They should have a vision and a drive to deliver meaningful and personalised curricula. Both experienced teachers and those just setting out in their careers would be considered.
