Teacher of English job summary

This is an exciting opportunity at Ormiston Chadwick Academy and requires you to be enthusiastic and passionate with the drive to help our students to achieve their very best.

We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher to join our supportive, highly organised and ambitious English department from January 2025. You could be at any point in your teaching career but will be committed to support and develop the teaching of English so that students of all abilities enjoy their learning and are motivated to succeed. The successful candidate will need to be a qualified teacher, able to deliver consistently good and better lessons across the age-groups of the Academy.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about English, maintaining high expectations of learning, achievement and behaviour contributing to whole school improvement, inspiring our students and making a positive contribution to our ethos and values. Our English department aims to nurture and inspire our students to become confident readers, writers and speakers who can compete with anyone, anywhere.

Ormiston Chadwick Academy opened in Widnes in September 2014 serving the community of West Widnes. Our Academy is large enough to offer an outstanding curriculum but small enough to have a strong community ethos in which all students are known and nurtured to achieve their potential.

Our new colleague will also benefit from being part of Ormiston Academies Trust, a MAT of 43 primary and secondary academies. The Trust’s vision is for all young people to have access to the highest academic, social and practical skills required to achieve their full potential. OAT support all staff so that they can enhance and develop their professional skills whatever their role within the trust.

Our ideal candidate should:

  • Possess strong curriculum knowledge.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management.
  • Be confident in their ability to raise standards and instil self-belief and achievement in our students.
  • Be a fully inclusive team player.
  • Show commitment to inclusion and success for all and more specifically in the English faculty.
  • Actively contribute to the wider life and ethos of the Academy.

If you would relish the opportunity of working with us, then we would welcome your application.

If you have any queries, please contact the academy via email at: admin@ocacademy.co.uk

The closing date for applications is 30 August 2024, early applications are encouraged and we reserve the right to close the vacancy early should a suitable candidate be found.
