Contract term: Full Time, Permanent

Breckland School is seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of English to join our team of passionate and driven subject specialists.

We are looking for a colleague who is proactive, confident to try new methods and reflect on how they can improve.

A person who wants to share their experiences with and learn from their colleagues at a time of positive change in the department, and who will put our students and their best interests at the heart of their teaching.

At Key Stage 4 we enter students for the AQA GCSE over a two-year KS4. At Key Stage 3, we are implementing an exciting new curriculum which celebrates a wide range of texts drawn from the traditional canon to newly published literature from a diverse range of authors.

Our curriculum aims to develop a love of reading and writing, an excellence in communication skills and a detailed understanding of the power of language, both through the skill of analysis and the joy of creative writing.

There are opportunities to develop and plan collaboratively in our supportive team as we continue to develop and enhance our curriculum.

We are seeking a Second in Department who is passionate about teaching and ready to play a key role in shaping the future of English at Breckland School. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is collaborative, reflective, and committed to raising standards in literacy across all key stages.

You will work closely with the Curriculum Leader to embed a culture of reading and writing for pleasure and purpose, helping to design and implement strategies that improve literacy outcomes for all students.

You will support the development of our evolving curriculum, contribute to whole-school literacy initiatives, and lead on areas such as reading interventions, writing moderation, and the promotion of diverse texts.

As a visible and supportive leader, you will model outstanding practice and help drive forward innovation in teaching and learning.

If you are ready to take the next step in your career and help move the department forward during this exciting phase of growth, we would be delighted to hear from you.

If you want to work in a supportive, progressive department, where you can teach your passion, and where your contributions are sought and valued, we wish to hear from you.

You can view a full list of requirements and further information about the school and Trust in the candidate pack. If you think you have what it takes to be successful in this role, even if you don’t meet all the requirements, please apply as we may be able to support you in any areas for development or we may have alternative roles that are a good fit for you. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
